How can we help Refugees?






Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark has committed to assisting 51 individuals which could consist of 12 to 16 households, resettle in North Jersey.  The refugees will be coming from Syria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq and Afghanistan.  The first refugee is expected to arrive in March 2017.  


Cardinal Tobin on January 27th issued a letter with ways we can help:

  • Assist in finding permanent housing
  • Financial assistance to be used for deposits on newly found apartments
  • Translators of Arabic and Swahili
  • Donating items 
At St. Helen we will be collecting items for the next two weeks (until Sunday, February 12th).  You can help by either dropping off your items in the lobby of Burke Hall CLICK HERE TO SEE A LIST OF ITEMS BEING COLLECTED,  or assist with the collection by volunteering time.  To volunteer CLICK HERE.
